The ICG FIA UI Research Cluster focuses on innovation, public governance, and ethics conducted comparatively at various levels, both nationally and internationally. The increasingly diverse and evolving global challenges are presenting public governance with new complex and multidimensional challenges. This includes ethical aspects, which are also facing changes and turbulence that ultimately intertwine with other aspects and dimensions influencing society.
The ability to introduce innovation is not only a necessity in the public sector but imperative to address various multidimensional issues in society. To foster sustainable innovation, public governance needs to adopt new approaches through collaboration and co-creation capable of gathering commitments across actors and sectors.
The direction of this research is contextual, addressing various policy issues and other research concerns that align with the expertise of each cluster member. This is in line with the Cluster’s Vision: “To become a center of education, research, and community service in the field of innovation and comparative governance that supports the existence of FIA UI as a center of excellence in the study of administration, policy, and strategic governance in Southeast Asia.”
The Cluster’s Mission derived from this vision includes:
- Supporting higher education provision at FIA UI based on competitive and dignified research and community service in the fields of innovation and comparative governance.
- Conducting research in the fields of innovation and comparative governance for the advancement of science and national progress.
- Engaging in community service for the welfare of the nation.
- Supporting efforts to produce FIA UI graduates competent in the fields of innovation and comparative governance with interdisciplinary and competitive abilities internationally, grounded in noble ethics.
The tri-dharma activities of higher education in terms of research, education, and community service to be carried out by the ICG Cluster will focus on studies regarding innovation in the public sector and various perspectives on public governance and ethics, conducted comparatively both at the national and international levels. Through the formation of a research cluster focusing on the study of innovation and comparative governance, it is hoped that it will contribute to the development of the 5 (five) pillars of knowledge at FIA UI, namely: policy; governance or governance; innovation; institution; and culture.
The implementation of research and community service from this research cluster will contribute to the development of the existing pillars of knowledge at FIA UI.
