History

Master of Administrative Science (MAS) study program was established on the year 1993, based on the Decree of the Director General of Higher Education, Department of Education and Culture Republic of Indonesia No. 577/DIKTI/Kep/1993.

From administrators at the strategic level, master and doctoral level researchers, consultants, to policy analysts who influence the professional world, the FIA UI Graduate Program offers learning that encourages students to be able to develop science and knowledge in the field of Administrative Science with an inter, multi, and transdisciplinary approach.

Students are also projected to be able to analyze and solve generatically (orderly and innovatively) dynamic and complex administrative problems (public, business, and tax) and be able to interpret government macro policies and organizational micro policies in an integrated thinking system order.

With various learning methods, graduates from this program are projected to be able to make strategic contributions in solving problems in the field of administration (public, business, and tax), managing, leading, and developing research in the field of administrative science that is beneficial to science and the fame of mankind, and able to gain national and international recognition.

Overview of the Program

The Master’s Program in Administrative Sciences at Universitas Indonesia is designed to enhance students’ knowledge and skills in the field of Administrative Science through interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary approaches. The curriculum includes core and elective courses, totaling 40 credits over 4 semesters. Students may choose from various concentrations such as Public Policy, Public Management, Business Administration, and Tax Administration.

The “Regional Financial and Asset Administration” specialization equips graduates to become professional administrators in the field of regional financial and asset administration, with specific expertise in financial policy, local government, good governance, asset management, and organizational development innovation.

This specialization is designed for government apparatus at both central and regional levels, Regional-Owned Enterprises (BUMD), Regional Public Service Agencies (BLUD), and nonprofit organizations, aiming to enhance the competence and professionalism of their members in planning, implementing, and evaluating regional financial income and expenditure as well as asset management. This specialization reflects the Faculty of Administrative Science’s real contribution to strengthening governance, especially in the areas of regional financial and asset governance.

The “Regional Tax and Retribution Administration” specialization transforms graduates into reliable administrators in the field of regional taxation and retribution, with specialized expertise in local taxes, regional revenue, and innovations in regional taxation.

This specialization is designed for government officials at both central and regional levels to enhance their competence and professionalism in planning, collecting, and evaluating regional taxes and retributions as sources of regional income. The target market for this specialization includes all civil servants in regional governments—both provincial and city/regency levels—especially those working in Regional Revenue Agencies and also in the Ministry of Home Affairs handling regional taxes and retributions.

  • Prospective master’s program students must graduate from a Bachelor’s Program or Diploma IV in various disciplines from domestic universities accredited by BAN-PT or from foreign universities recognized by the Directorate General of Higher Education.

  • Admission requirements for prospective master’s students and first-year entry criteria for Double Degree program applicants:

    1. University of Indonesia TPA score (minimum score of 500)

    2. Institutional TOEFL score (minimum score of 500) or IELTS (minimum score of 6) or pass

    3. English Language Examination held by the University of Indonesia

    4. GPA at the previous level of education must be at least 3.00 (on a 0–4 scale)

    5. For the double degree program, a minimum IELTS score of 6.5 with a minimum writing score of 6.5 and no band score below 6.0, or a TOEFL iBT score of at least 90 with a minimum writing score of 24

  • Second-year entry criteria are determined by partner universities (University of Melbourne and Victoria University of Wellington):

    1. A minimum GPA of 3.00 at the end of the first semester at Universitas Indonesia

    2. Successful completion of all courses required by Universitas Indonesia in the first semester

    3. Completion of the new student administrative process at the partner universities (University of Melbourne and Victoria University of Wellington)
