About

Defny Holidin is an assistant professor of public administration and policy at Universitas Indonesia. He works on comparative governance reform trajectories, democratic governance, decentralization, public policy transfer and innovation, within which he has been educated in Universitas Indonesia, Universität Potsdam, and Universität Osnabrück. His policy advisories to the Government of Indonesia in those fields are delivered with the university, policy think tanks, and civil society organization, which he also serves civic educations. For purposes of civic education also, he has become a socio-political pundit with leading national news media. In line with these activities, he is equipped with applied expertise and skills in the phronetic leadership and knowledge-driven organization development trained in Tokyo, global governance trained in Genève, university governance and performance management in Seoul, and intercultural management in Berlin. These are among intensive chartered training in government performance accountability, performance management, and agile project management. 

Defny Holidin acquires extensive international experience and networks. He serves as a guest lecturer at the Development Academy of the Philippines, a visiting researcher at the University of the Philippines, a pro-bono international consultant with Lai’Latif & Co., and a contributor to a season meeting of the United Nations Committee of Experts on Public Administration (UN CEPA). He actively engages in research and workshop collaborations with the National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies, the University of New South Wales, Humboldt Universität zu Berlin, National University of Singapore, De La Salle University, and Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).
