Meulaboh, September 16, 2023 – The quality of scientific publications produced by higher education institutions is a crucial indicator of academic achievement. A high-quality scientific journal not only reflects the academic excellence of an institution but also has a broad impact on its reputation, research, education, and overall scientific progress.
Recognizing this importance, Universitas Indonesia (UI) and Universitas Teuku Umar (UTU) have joined forces to improve the quality of academic research and journal publications. The Faculty of Administrative Sciences at UI (FIA UI), through BISNIS & BIROKRASI: Jurnal Ilmu Administrasi dan Organisasi (JBB), is providing assistance to UTU’s scientific journals under the Korpus Jurnal dan Hak Kekayaan Intelektual UTU.
The collaboration covers various editorial aspects, including manuscript management, peer review processes, and resolving issues related to journal platforms. Additionally, JBB FIA UI has introduced an Academic Writing Clinic to help UTU faculty members enhance the quality of their scientific publications.
“The partnership between UI and UTU to improve journal quality is a positive step toward supporting scientific development and strengthening the reputation of higher education institutions in Indonesia. With a spirit of collaboration, we must continue to expand academic networks and improve the quality of scientific publications in Indonesia,” said Ario Wicaksono, Ph.D., a faculty member at the Department of Public Management and Policy, Universitas Gadjah Mada.
Rijal Ramdhani, S.Sos., Production Editor of JBB FIA UI, emphasized the importance of this initiative in fostering independent, high-quality, and ethical scientific publications. He highlighted the significance of participant engagement in the workshop to enhance their academic capabilities, particularly in producing impactful scientific publications.
The Rector of UTU, Prof. Dr. Drs. Ishak Hasan, M.Si., expressed his appreciation for the collaboration and hopes for further joint initiatives between UI and UTU. He fully supports this program and believes that such efforts will bring significant benefits to both institutions.
Heri Darsan, S.T., M.T., Secretary of UTU’s Institute for Research, Community Service, and Education Quality Assurance (LPPM-PMP), representing the institute’s chairman, also praised the workshop. “I highly appreciate the organizing team for successfully hosting this event and bringing in experts from UI. This is a great opportunity for us to exchange information and experiences in developing scientific journals and improving academic writing skills for high-quality scientific articles,” he stated.
The Scientific Journal Accreditation Improvement Workshop and Academic Writing Clinic took place on October 2-3, 2023, at UTU’s Meulaboh Campus. The event was attended by around 25 participants and 34 representatives from various scientific journals within UTU.
