Staying long on the Indonesian industrial scene is not as easy as turning your palm. Just look at PT Sri Rejeki Isman Tbk (SRIL), known as Sritex, which has stood for decades and continues to grow rapidly with various textile products, one of which is military uniforms that have been exported to more than 100 countries. This is inseparable from the owners of capital who have, for generations, carried out the transfer of knowledge to the next generation. The same was done by Iwan Setiawan Lukminto, the boss of Sritex who was recently selected as the Best Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Bisnis Indonesia Award 2018. He prepared his son, Wilson Setiawan Lukminto, for the job of leadership. Wilson from a young age has been prepared to replace his father as the third-generation successor to Sritex. At a young age, he was taught negotiations and meetings with Sritex clients who came not only from inside the country but also from abroad.

The young Wilson also gave a public lecture at the Auditorium of the M Building, Faculty of Administrative Science, Universitas Indonesia (FIA UI), on Tuesday (11/27). Wilson’s theme was related to “The Process of Transformation, Innovation and Succession of Family Business Sritex in the Disruption Era 4.0.” According to Wilson in continuing his leadership, he prepared to carry out several projects in accordance with technological developments. “One of them is the use of a robotic system for the machines that we use, this is important so that none of our items are lost, so everything is recorded,” he said.

Wilson also talked about the strength of the values that his grandfather and father instilled since he was little. “Even from the age of 6 months I have been invited to meet clients,” said the man who is still in high school. At present, according to him, young people’s creativity is needed in industrial development. The proof is that Sritex has 1.2 million designs, with a note that every day there are 150 new designs in Sritex. No wonder with the rapid development of Sritex, Wilson promised to make his family’s company ten times bigger than it is now.

The general Manager of FIA UI, Drs. Muh Azis Muslim, M.Sc, appreciated the willingness of Wilson to share knowledge related to his experiences while being prepared to continue his father’s leadership. He was amazed by the enthusiasm of this young man, usually in a generational organization, the first generation pioneers, the second generation to build, and the third generation only enjoyed. However, Wilson broke that theory, Wilson had been prepared since he was young about things related to the ins and outs of his father’s business. The next challenge for this industry is asking for support in the form of a law that regulates clothing. “The law that deals with clothing is important because clothing is a need that is always attached to us,” he said.
