The Faculty of Administrative Sciences at Universitas Indonesia (FIA UI) has initiated a collaboration with the Iran Insurance Research Center (IIRC) in the field of academic activities, particularly in insurance training and education. This initiative took place on Tuesday, February 27, 2024, at the Main Meeting Room, Building M, FIA UI, Depok.

IIRC is a research institute specializing in the study and training of insurance, risk management, and takaful in Iran—particularly in Tehran—and other Islamic countries. The center has collaborated with several institutions worldwide, including in Indonesia, where they recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the General Insurance Association of Indonesia (AAUI).

“FIA UI welcomes opportunities for academic collaboration with various partners, both domestically and internationally. This aligns with our commitment to the ‘tridharma’ of higher education—education, research, and community service,” said Dr. Milla Sepliana Setyowati, M.Ak., C.A., Vice Dean for Resources, Ventures, and General Administration at FIA UI.

Prof. Dr. Mohammad Mahdi Asgari, Chief Executive Officer of IIRC, emphasized the need for economic and insurance development supported by the academic field. “The global Islamic economy and insurance sector hold significant potential for development, and we are open to academic collaboration focused on these areas,” he stated.

According to Prof. Dr. Mahdi, IIRC’s activities include training programs, research, publishing books and journals related to insurance and risk, and organizing academic conferences. IIRC operates through five research departments: General Studies of Insurance; Personal Insurances; Property and Casualty Insurance; Islamic Studies of Insurance; and Modern Insurance Technologies.

FIA UI, through its Risk Governance Centre (RGC), sees collaboration opportunities with IIRC in areas such as faculty exchanges, joint research studies, co-authoring books and journals, and organizing workshops, training sessions, and conferences. “RGC FIA UI is a business subunit under LPPIA FIA UI, aimed at providing education and certification in the insurance field,” explained Drs. Asrori, M.A., Head of RGC FIA UI.

RGC FIA UI operates as part of the Special Unit for Service and Community Engagement under the Institute for Study and Application of Administrative Sciences (UKK PPM LPPIA FIA UI) at the Faculty of Administrative Sciences, Universitas Indonesia.

During the collaboration initiation event, the IIRC team invited FIA UI to participate in co-authoring publications, joining the editorial team of IIRC’s journal, organizing conferences, and engaging in faculty exchange programs or learning sessions at IIRC.

Attending the event were Prof. Dr. Shahram Rezapour, representing IIRC, and several FIA UI representatives, including Dr. Tafsir Nurchamid, A.k., M.Si., Surachman Jusuf, S.E., Drs. Zulfikar; Dr. Fibria Indriati, M.Si., Dr. Milla Sepliana Setyowati, M.Ak., C.A., and Dr. Umanto, M.Si.
