TOKYO. Dean of Faculty of Administrative Sciences Universitas Indonesia (FIA UI) Prof. Dr. Eko Prasojo became the core member in the Leading Asia Research Project meeting initiated by the National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies (GRIPS). Prof. Eko, along with three other Indonesian representatives, presented the theme “Knowledge Creation in public administration, innovation, & phonetic leadership” in Tokyo on Wednesday (25/7).

According to the former Deputy Minister of Administrative Reform and Bureaucracy Reform Indonesia is actually a project Leading Asia has lasted for 3 years. “Currently entering the third year,” he said. This research focuses on innovative leaders in several ASEAN countries plus Japan. Naturally the countries involved in this project are Japan, Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand, Laos, Myanmar, Cambodia, Vietnam and Malaysia.

The Leading Asia Project Leadership Enhancement and Administrative Development for Innovative Governance in Asia is scheduled to continue for the next three years with the goal of applying innovative leadership in government using the concept of Socialization, Externalization, Combination, and Internalization (SECI). Model and Phonetic Leadership developed by Prof. Nonaka Ikujiro.

In Indonesia alone this research project was conducted in Banyuwangi and Bantaeng last year. “The target this year the results of this research will be introduced to the Institute of Public administration (LAN) in Training Leaders 1 and 2,” explained this German graduate doctor.

Besides Prof. Eko, another representative from Indonesia, from Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), Prof. Agus Pramusinto, Head of LAN, Dr. Adi Suryanto, and Secretary General of the Village Ministry for the Development of Disadvantaged Regions and Transmigration (Kemendes PDTT), Dr. Anwar Sanusi.

As information, Leading Asia project initiated by GRIPS is also supported by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). GRIPS itself is one of the leading national institutes focusing primarily on public policy, the new institute was founded in 1997.
