The Business Administration Student Association of the Faculty of Administrative Sciences, Universitas Indonesia (FIA UI) organized Business Week 2023 under the theme “From Ideas to Actions: Driving Sustainable Development through Innovation.” The event featured a series of programs, including the Business Fair, Student and Postgraduate Colloquium 2023, Inside Insight, and Business Administration Days (BRAND), running from October 23 to December 1, 2023.
“Business Week is a collaborative effort involving lecturers, students, staff, and alumni, combining academic and non-academic activities to share knowledge, experiences, and strengthen the bonds within the FIA UI community. Through these programs, we aim to foster holistic student development—cognitively, affectively, and psychomotorically,” said Prof. Dr. Chandra Wijaya, M.Si., M.M., Dean of FIA UI, during the opening ceremony of Business Week 2023.
The Business Fair (Pekan Raya Niaga) emphasized the values of creativity, empowerment, and synergy, aiming to enhance the creativity of Business Administration students and the broader community in advancing their business ideas.
The event’s theme responded to the dynamic changes in the environment while highlighting the importance of sustainability for future generations. As modern developments increasingly impact the business world, organizations are urged to integrate sustainable practices into their business innovation strategies. The event encourages the transformation of visionary ideas into concrete actions that promote sustainable business practices and support the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
“Our primary goal is to make Business Week a platform that inspires and educates, providing valuable insights into the business world, especially for Business Administration students. This year, we present four different programs, each with its own focus,” explained Yola Vania Mahditiara, the Project Officer of Business Week 2023.
The Business Fair is a rebranded version of the Business Administration Fair 2022, which was part of Business Week 2022. It included Bazaar Week and a Music Festival, open to the general public, the Universitas Indonesia academic community, and Business Administration students. The Business Fair took place from October 23 to October 28, 2023.
The Student and Postgraduate Colloquium showcased scientific research and proposals from the 2020 cohort of Business Administration undergraduate students and postgraduate students. This program aimed to foster collegiality between students and academics, creating an environment for scholarly discussions within the Department of Business Administration. The colloquium ran from October 23 to October 26, 2023.
Inside Insight, the third program, aimed to provide knowledge, skills development, and global business perspectives. This event is a rebranding of previous Business Week sessions, including Alumni Sharing Sessions, Business Administration Insight (BRIGHT), and Business Administration Day Insights (BRAND Insights). Inside Insight took place from October 26 to October 28, 2023.
The final segment, BRAND UI, included a Business Case Competition for undergraduate (S1), diploma (D3), and applied bachelor (D4) students across Indonesia, and a Business Plan Competition for high school students. This program aimed to raise awareness about sustainable business practices and their positive social and environmental impacts. The BRAND UI competition ran from September 9 to December 1, 2023.
“I hope the vision, mission, and goals of Business Week 2023 are realized, providing a meaningful platform for business skills development. I also hope the expectations of both the organizers and participants are met, and everyone involved gains valuable insights from this event,” said Yola Vania Mahditiara.
Business Week 2023 was organized under three key clusters: Center of Innovation and Governance (CIGO), Financial Institutions (Inskeu), and Competitiveness and Governance of Corporation (CGC). It was supported by ILUNI FIA UI (the Alumni Association of FIA UI) and members of the Business Administration Student Association (HIMANIA).
Since its launch in 2017, Business Week has aimed to foster agents of transformation who uphold the three pillars of higher education: education, research, and community service.
