Donny Oktavian Syah was born in Yogyakarta city on 19 October. He finished doctoral degree at Graduate School of International Development (GSID), Economics Development Policy and Management Program, Nagoya University, Japan on 2020. His research dissertation topic on vertical partnership in automotive industry in Jabodetabek, Indonesia with BPPLN scholarship from Ministry of Education and Culture (Kemendikbud). Meanwhile, his master degree earned from Graduate School of International Management (GSIM) of International University of Japan (IUJ), E-Business Management program in Minami Uonuma city, Niigata prefecture Japan on 2005 with supported JASSO (Japan Student Service Organization) scholarship.

Before building career in academic field, he worked in several companies in Jakarta (Indonesia) and Japan as a marketing manager, a trainer and business consultant, etc. Due to teaching and researching is his passion, recently he become a lecturer at Universitas Indonesia, Faculty of Administrative Science, Business Administration Program.

Active in business, social, and community organizations, serving as a member committee of Persada (Community of Japan Alumni) DKI Jakarta Chapter, Indonesian Lecturers Organizations (ADI), member of JIK-C (Japan Indonesia Kaizen Center). Also, become a reviewer of several journals in Indonesia.
