Jakarta, 5 February 2026 — The leadership of the Faculty of Administrative Sciences, Universitas Indonesia (FIA UI), conducted a working visit to the Directorate General of Regional Autonomy (Ditjen Otda) of the Ministry of Home Affairs on Wednesday at the Ministry’s office in Central Jakarta (4/2).
The visit aimed to explore opportunities for strategic collaboration to enhance human resource capacity and strengthen regional autonomy policies.
Dean Prof. Dr. Retno Kusumastuti Hardjono, M.Si., stated that the meeting marked an important momentum to align the needs of the bureaucracy with academic expertise.
“We believe that various forms of cooperation and collaboration can be developed together, such as study assignments in the Master’s (S2) and Doctoral (S3) Programs in Administrative Sciences for officials within the Ministry of Home Affairs and local governments. These programs are designed to produce bureaucrats with strong analytical and managerial competencies,” explained Retno.
In addition, Retno emphasized the importance of organizing an Executive Development Program (EDP) for senior leaders and strategic regional officials to broaden their understanding of contemporary issues in adaptive and innovative governance.
“Of course, collaboration in policy studies is also essential. FIA UI has many experts who can provide research-based input on critical regional autonomy issues, such as regional expansion, fiscal decentralization, and others,” she added.
Meanwhile, the Director General of Regional Autonomy, Dr. Cheka Virgowansyah, S.STP., M.E., welcomed the exploration of this collaboration.
“The challenges of regional autonomy are becoming increasingly complex. Therefore, we need strategic partners from academia to provide clear perspectives and well-tested solutions,” said Cheka.
This collaboration is expected to be formalized soon through a technical Cooperation Agreement (PKS), enabling program implementation in the near future, in line with the government’s ongoing agenda for public sector transformation.
