The Faculty of Administrative Sciences, Universitas Indonesia (FIA UI), conducted a community service and empowerment program titled “Ready for College, Ready to Lead: Life Skills and Leadership for Future Students” at SMAN 1 Glagah, Banyuwangi. The initiative was part of FIA UI’s contribution to equipping 11th-grade students with essential life skills, leadership abilities, and mental and social readiness as they prepare for university life.

The event, which gathered 75 students, was officially opened by the Principal of SMAN 1 Glagah, who expressed appreciation for the collaboration and hoped that the students would gain inspiration and motivation to pursue higher education.

Representing the FIA UI team, Abdur Rahman, ST, CA, CPAM, CGRCP, CRMO, ITIL-F—an alumnus of SMAN 1 Glagah—delivered an enthusiastic speech. He expressed his pride in returning to his alma mater to share knowledge and experiences and encouraged his juniors to dream big and prepare themselves for the challenges of university life.

The program began with a session titled “Life as a College Student” by Dr. Dewi Lusiana, MBA, who provided a realistic overview of the challenges and opportunities faced by university students. The second session, “Leadership & Collaboration in Campus Life,” was delivered by Dr. Muhammad Ramaditya, BBA, M.Sc., who emphasized the importance of active participation, communication, and leadership in campus organizations.

“Banyuwangi has great educational potential, but access to information about campus life is still uneven. We want to be part of the effort to strengthen students’ readiness in the regions so they can pursue higher education with greater confidence and direction,” said Dr. Dewi Lusiana in an interview session.

The third session, led by Annisa Parastry, S.P., MA, introduced a Vision Board activity titled “My Dream in College.” In this segment, students created visual and inspirational boards to reflect and plan for their future. The session was met with great enthusiasm, with students actively engaging in discussions and sharing their aspirations.

According to a 2022 national survey by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology, 57% of first-year university students in Indonesia feel overwhelmed during their transition into campus life, particularly in areas such as time management, decision-making, and social interaction. Through this initiative, UI lecturers aim to help bridge these gaps with an educational and participatory approach.
