Universitas Indonesia (UI), in collaboration with the Ministry of Transmigration, has launched the Patriot Expedition Program, a strategic partnership aimed at strengthening development in transmigration areas located in Indonesia’s underdeveloped, frontier, and outermost regions (3T).

UI Rector Prof. Heri Hermansyah emphasized that the university must not only excel academically but also deliver tangible benefits to society.

“UI must be a beacon of excellence and impact. Every step we take today is an investment in Indonesia’s future,” he said.

A total of 57 multidisciplinary service teams have been deployed to 57 transmigration regions across Indonesia to support the success of the expedition.

Rosita A. Lasidji, Head of the Morotai Island Manpower and Transmigration Office, stated that the program will help accelerate local economic growth.

Recently, the Ministry of Transmigration provided a grant of Rp 8.6 billion to local governments to support development in transmigration areas.

Dr. Rachma Fitriati from FIA UI is leading Expedition Team 18, which will be deployed to Morotai. The team, consisting of students and alumni from UI and Universitas Indonesia Timur, will dedicate four months—from August to December 2025—to optimizing local potential and improving the welfare of the people of Morotai Island.
