Jakarta, 23 January 2026 — Universitas Indonesia, through the Faculty of Administrative Sciences (FIA UI), officially organized a series of short-term exchange programs with Zhejiang University, held over one week from 19 to 23 January 2026, as a manifestation of both institutions’ commitment to strengthening academic collaboration and cultural exchange at the Asian level.
The program was designed to provide an integrated learning experience for Zhejiang University students through a combination of academic activities, industry visits, and cultural exploration in Jakarta and Bandung. Throughout the program, participants attended lectures on the Indonesian economy, public administration, and leadership amid global uncertainty (VUCA), conducted at Universitas Indonesia.
The learning series was complemented by a visit to PT Wanxinda Group Indonesia, offering participants first-hand insights into cross-border business practices and the dynamics of global economic cooperation within the Indonesian context. The students’ academic experience was further enriched through a visit to Deakin University Lancaster University Indonesia (DLI), where they took part in a leadership lecture delivered by Prof. Greg Barton, BA (Hons), PhD.
Beyond academic and professional components, the program also emphasized the importance of cultural understanding as a key element in shaping students’ global perspectives. Through visits to several historical and cultural destinations, including Taman Mini Indonesia Indah, the Asian-African Conference Museum, Gedung Sate, and Saung Angklung Mang Udjo, participants were introduced to Indonesia’s history, national values, and cultural diversity. These activities not only broadened participants’ horizons but also created spaces for cross-cultural dialogue that fostered mutual understanding and respect among nations.
The program concluded with a reflection session and group presentations, serving as a platform for students to summarize their experiences, learning outcomes, and new perspectives gained throughout the program. Through this session, participants were encouraged to comprehensively connect theory, practice, and social context.
One participant from Zhejiang University, Hu Xuanhao (胡轩皓), shared that the program provided a highly memorable experience, not only academically but also on a personal level. According to him, direct interactions with Universitas Indonesia students helped him understand Indonesia from a closer and more authentic perspective.
“Through our time together on campus and in various activities, I not only learned about Indonesia but also built sincere friendships. This experience broadened my perspective and left memories that I will always cherish,” he said.
This short-term exchange program is expected to serve as a foundation for broader academic cooperation between Universitas Indonesia and Zhejiang University, while also contributing to the development of a young generation with global sensitivity, adaptive leadership, and the ability to collaborate amid the complexities of the international landscape.
