Depok, 14 November 2025 – The Faculty of Administrative Sciences, Universitas Indonesia (FIA UI), together with the Innovation and Comparative Governance (ICG) Research Cluster, held a public lecture entitled “The Role of Anti-Corruption Effort: Achieving Sustainable Governance,” featuring Prof. Dr. Teguh Kurniawan, M.Sc., and the Deputy for Education and Community Participation of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), Dr. Ir. Wawan Wardiana, M.T., as speakers. The event took place at the EDISI 2020 Auditorium, Building M, 4th Floor, FIA UI.
This public lecture aimed to broaden anti-corruption literacy while strengthening students’ understanding of the principles of sustainable governance, which constitute an important framework for public sector governance in the modern era.
In his presentation, Dr. Wawan Wardiana emphasized that integrity is the main foundation of anti-corruption efforts as well as a key element in building sustainable governance. According to him, corruption eradication efforts cannot be carried out partially. Strengthening the values of transparency, accountability, professionalism, fairness, and leadership commitment is required to ensure that oversight systems function effectively.
He also highlighted the KPK’s Friday Cycling Program as an example of strengthening a culture of integrity through the development of positive habits and consistency of values. The program is designed to instill nine anti-corruption values in a simple yet impactful way, namely through routine activities carried out collectively.
“Integrity, ethics, and law must be strengthened simultaneously. Corruption eradication can only be effective when the principles of integrity are embraced by all stakeholders,” Dr. Wawan emphasized.
At the end of his presentation, Dr. Wawan summarized three key points regarding the relationship between anti-corruption and sustainable development. He stressed that integrity strengthens public organizations—both in decision-making processes and in service delivery—and that anti-corruption efforts can reduce abuse of authority and improve the quality of governance. All of this leads to the importance of governance with integrity to support sustainable development, including the achievement of national and global development goals.
Prof. Dr. Teguh Kurniawan, M.Sc., as the Coordinator of the Anti-Corruption and Governance Course at FIA UI, stated that this public lecture is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen perspectives on integrity within the academic environment. Through the Public Lecture Series, FIA UI continues to commit itself as a center of learning and research for innovative, clean, and accountable public governance.
The presence of national practitioners such as the KPK is expected to enrich students’ understanding of real-world anti-corruption governance practices and the challenges faced in the field.
In the future, two additional guest lectures will be held for the Anti-Corruption and Governance course. This is intended to foster cross-actor synergy and best practice modeling conducted by students, so that they also understand the application of concepts and theories at the practical level, the challenges encountered
