Depok, November 2025 — The Faculty of Administrative Sciences, Universitas Indonesia (FIA UI), once again held an international conference on 24–27 November 2025, integrating The 5th ICAS-PGS, The 6th ICBAP, and The 1st IFTAC. Carrying the theme “Trust, Transparency, and Transformation: Rethinking Policy and Administration in a Turbulent World,” the conference served as an academic forum to reflect on the challenges of public governance, business, and taxation amid global dynamics.

The event, held at the FIA UI Depok Campus, was attended by prominent national and international figures. Participants included high-ranking officials from the Ministry of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform (Kemenpan RB), the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Ministry of Finance, the National Research and Innovation Agency, as well as regional government representatives ranging from governors and mayors to heads of strategic institutions. Academics from various leading universities also contributed, including Charles Darwin University, the University of Potsdam, Rikkyo University, Hong Kong Metropolitan University, and Zhejiang University.

In her opening remarks, FIA UI Dean Prof. Dr. Dra. Retno Kusumastuti Hardjono, M.Si., stated that the forum was designed to strengthen the link between research and public policy needs.

“Amid social, geopolitical, and technological turbulence, public institutions need to renew their governance approaches. Through this forum, we bring together stakeholders to encourage policies that are more transparent, adaptive, and collaborative,” she said.

Meanwhile, Chair of ICAS-PGS 2025, Dr. phil. Reza Fathurrahman, MPP, added that this year’s conference demonstrated a high level of cross-country and cross-sector collaboration.

“With more than 130 research topics and the participation of experts from various countries, this conference enriches perspectives while strengthening policy networks across jurisdictions,” he explained.

The event was also opened by the Chair of the Council of Professors of Universitas Indonesia, Prof. Dr. Eko Prasojo, Mag.rer.publ.; the Chair of the Academic Senate of Universitas Indonesia, Prof. Dr. dr. Budi Wiweko, SpOG, Subsp. FER, MPH, FRANZCOG (Hons), FICRM; and the Deputy for Bureaucratic Reform, Apparatus Accountability, and Supervision of Kemenpan RB, Prof. Dr. Erwan Agus Purwanto.

The conference also featured a series of National Symposium sessions as part of the commemoration of 25 Years of Indonesian Decentralization, presenting strategic figures such as the Chair of Commission II of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Dr. H. M. Rifqinizamy Karsayuda; Governor of Banten Andra Soni; a representative of the Provincial Government of DKI Jakarta; Mayor of Bogor Dedie A. Rachim; Prof. Dr. Siti Zuhro (BRIN); as well as experts including Yanuar Nugroho, Ph.D. from the Driyarkara School of Philosophy Jakarta, FIA UI Professors Prof. Dr. Haula Rosdiana, M.Si., Prof. Dr. Irfan Ridwan Maksum, and other experts.

In addition, a number of international scholars contributed to the international plenary sessions, including Prof. Harald Fuhr (University of Potsdam), Dr. James McMillan (Charles Darwin University), Prof. Ayano Hirose (Rikkyo University), and Prof. Zhirong Jerry Zhao from Zhejiang University.

The conference series concluded with an International Public Seminar in Bandung on 27 November 2025, held in collaboration with Deakin University, Lancaster University Indonesia, and Zhejiang University. The seminar highlighted a commitment to strengthening inclusive and relevant global partnerships for the current dynamics of public administration.

The organization of this conference reaffirmed FIA UI’s position as a center for the development of administrative sciences and public policy that actively promotes innovation, research, and cross-sector synergy at both national and international levels.
