Depok, 17 November 2025 — The Faculty of Administrative Sciences, Universitas Indonesia (FIA UI), in collaboration with Bank Tabungan Negara (BTN), organized a financial literacy seminar entitled “Financial Awareness, Say No to Online Loans.” The event was held at the Edisi 2020 Auditorium, Building M, 4th floor, and was attended by members of the FIA UI academic community.
The seminar featured financial planner Steven Vinza Candra, S.E., CFP, CWM, as the main speaker and was moderated by Dr. Umanto, M.Si., who provided an introduction on the urgency of financial literacy amid the growing prevalence of online lending and high-risk digital financial practices.
In his presentation, Steven discussed the fundamentals of financial planning, including financial planning strategies, budgeting, cash flow management, and how to make prudent investment and financing decisions. He highlighted that low levels of financial literacy often cause people to fall easily into get-rich-quick schemes, illegal investments, and online loans that create long-term financial burdens.
Steven also emphasized the importance of mapping needs versus wants, starting to invest early, and preparing an ideal emergency fund to cope with unexpected situations.
In addition, the speaker encouraged participants to be more cautious in choosing sources of financial information and not to be easily influenced by recommendations from friends, family members, or influencers without strong financial understanding. Formal education, seminars, and guidance from professional financial planners were considered important steps in building healthy financial habits.
Through the organization of this seminar, FIA UI and BTN hope to strengthen the academic community’s understanding of the importance of prudent, safe, and responsible financial management. With improved financial literacy, young generations are expected to avoid the traps of online loans, the risks of online gambling, and consumptive behavior that could jeopardize their financial future.
