Batam, December 5, 2025 — The Faculty of Administrative Sciences, Universitas Indonesia (FIA UI), has established a strategic cooperation with the Indonesian Quarantine Agency (Badan Karantina Indonesia/Barantin) in the preparation of the Grand Design for Organizational Development and Governance of the Indonesian Quarantine Agency 2026–2045. This collaboration marks an important step in strengthening Barantin’s institutional governance to address the dynamics of the national and global quarantine system in the future.

As part of the grand design preparation process, the FIA UI team together with Barantin representatives conducted data collection and field observations in Batam. This activity aimed to obtain a comprehensive overview of organizational needs, operational challenges, and transformation opportunities to realize a quarantine institution that is adaptive, modern, and innovation-based.

The observation activity was attended by Shahandra Hanitiyo, S.IP., M.Si., Secretary General of the Indonesian Quarantine Agency; as well as Hudiansyah Is Nursal, S.H., M.I.L.I.R., Head of the Bureau of Law and Public Relations of Barantin.

From FIA UI, the assessment team was also present, including the Dean of FIA UI, Prof. Dr. Dra. Retno Kusumastuti Hardjono, M.Si., and the Head of the Department of Public Administration, Dr. Muh Azis Muslim.

This cooperation is expected to produce strategic recommendations and a roadmap for the development of Barantin’s organization through 2045, aligned with the needs of strengthening the national quarantine system. FIA UI reaffirmed its commitment to supporting government institutions in improving the quality of governance and public services based on academic research.
