Shenzhen, China, March 26, 2026 — In an effort to strengthen internationalization and enhance the quality of the university’s tridharma (education, research, and community service), Universitas Indonesia (UI) conducted a series of strategic visits in Shenzhen, China, on Thursday, March 26, 2026. The agenda included the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Shenzhen University of Advanced Technology (SUAT), exploration of collaboration with Shenzhen University (SU), and benchmarking activities on sustainable development in the Guangming District – Comprehensive National Science Center.

The UI delegation was led by the Rector of UI, Prof. Dr. Ir. Heri Hermansyah, along with university and faculty leaders, including Prof. Dr. Hamdi Muluk (Vice Rector for Research and Innovation), Fadhilah Muslim, Ph.D. (Director of Educational Internationalization), Prof. Yon Machmudi (School of Environmental Science and Sustainable Development), Vishnu Juwono, Ph.D. (Director of UI GreenMetric), Dr. Untung Yuwono (Dean of the Faculty of Humanities), and Dr. Brian Amy Prasetyo, M.H. (Vice Dean of the Faculty of Law).

The Faculty of Administrative Sciences, Universitas Indonesia (FIA UI), actively contributed to the visit through the participation of its leadership team. The FIA UI delegation was led by the Dean, Prof. Dr. Dra. Retno Kusumastuti, M.Si., accompanied by Prof. Dr. Teguh Kurniawan, M.Sc. (Vice Dean for Education, Research, and Student Affairs), Prof. Dr. Milla Sepliana Setyowati, M.Ak. (Vice Dean for Resources, Venture, and General Administration), Dr. Eko Sakapurnama, MBA, CHRM (Head of Graduate Program), and Tyas Wida Handoko, S.I.A., M.Sc. (Coordinator for Graduate Program Development).

The visit to SUAT marked the main agenda, highlighted by the signing of the MoU as a formal foundation for strategic cooperation between the two institutions. The agreement opens opportunities for collaboration in education, research, as well as academic and student exchanges. Through this partnership, UI is expected to expand its global network and enhance its academic contributions at the international level.

In addition, the UI delegation visited Shenzhen University (SU) to engage in academic discussions and explore potential collaboration. During the visit, UI received presentations on cutting-edge research, particularly in the fields of technology and health. The meeting provided valuable insights for the development of interdisciplinary research that is responsive to global dynamics.

As part of strengthening perspectives on sustainable development governance, the delegation also conducted benchmarking at the Guangming District Comprehensive National Science Center. This visit offered a comprehensive overview of the implementation of a sustainable city concept driven by innovation and advanced technology. For FIA UI, this experience is particularly relevant in advancing studies in public administration, especially in the context of environmentally oriented policies and sustainable urban development.

FIA UI’s active participation throughout the series of activities underscores its strategic role in supporting the implementation of international collaborations, particularly in the fields of administration and public policy governance.
