Depok, July 1, 2024 – The gold mining sector serves as the primary source of revenue for Buol Regency, highlighting its significant economic potential and crucial contribution to regional development. Therefore, an effective governance system is essential to support local economic growth and sustainable development.
In response to this urgency, the Buol Regency Government has partnered with the Faculty of Administrative Sciences, University of Indonesia (FIA UI) to collaborate on building an effective governance system and evidence-based policy-making.
“Buol Regency is rich in natural resources, especially gold, which is found across most of the region. However, we still need a strong internal team to manage the government effectively and produce appropriate policies based on evidence-based practices,” said M. Muchlis, Acting Regent of Buol Regency.
The Dean of FIA UI, Prof. Dr. Chandra Wijaya, M.Si., M.M., accompanied by the Vice Dean for Education, Research, and Student Affairs, Dr. Fibria Indriati, M.Si., and the Vice Dean for Resources, Ventures, and General Administration, Dr. Milla Sepliana Setyowati, M.Ak., welcomed the visit and cooperation plan from the Buol Regency Government as part of FIA UI’s commitment to the community through the implementation of the university’s threefold mission (tridarma).
This collaboration was formalized through the signing of a Cooperation Agreement (PKS) between the Buol Regency Government, represented by Wahyu Setyabudi, SH, MH, Head of the Regional Development Planning Agency (Bappeda) of Buol Regency, and Dr. Milla Sepliana Setyowati, M.Ak., Vice Dean for Resources, Ventures, and General Administration, who also serves as Chair of the Center for Administrative Science Studies and Application (LPPIA) at FIA UI. The signing took place on Thursday, June 27, 2024, at the Smartclass Room, 3rd Floor, Building M, FIA UI, Depok.
“Although FIA UI is the youngest faculty at the University of Indonesia, it is committed to supporting regional development. Buol Regency, with its natural resource potential and human resources, will benefit from educational programs such as the Center for Independent Learning (CIL), Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL), Credit Earning Program (CEP), and graduate programs offered by FIA UI, as well as consultations, studies, and training organized by LPPIA FIA UI,” said Prof. Dr. Chandra Wijaya.
“Buol Regency, which is rich in natural resources, particularly gold, requires support for the development of quality human resources and evidence-based policy-making. This collaboration is expected to strengthen the local government’s capacity to manage regional potential sustainably,” said Wahyu.
