ERFURT, GERMANY. Although the faculty is only 3 years old, the Faculty of Administrative Sciences Universitas Indonesia (FIA UI) intensively conducts assessments in several foreign countries. This week the FIA UI group visited five universities in Germany, one of which was the University of Erfurt.
The delegation of the FIA UI visited the University of Erfurt, Germany, Monday (24/9). The delegation which, was directly led by the Dean of FIA UI, Prof. Eko Prasojo, explored collaborations in the field of research and academic scientific administration.
Prof. Eko explained the reason for choosing Willy Brandt School of Public Policy, University of Erfurt is because it has an international reputation in public policy studies. In addition, their students come from various countries and several alumni have become important officials in the government and in international institutions. “We hope the FIA UI can learn from Erfurt regarding internationalization strategies and organizing international class programs,” said the former Minister of Empowerment of the Bureaucratic Reform State Apparatus (Wamenpan-RB).
During this visit, FIA UI and University of Erfurt agreed to collaborate on 3 things, the first is a research collaboration with the theme ‘social innovation’. The second being junior professors from University of Erfurt as visiting scholars at FIA UI next year. As for the third, PhD students / FIA UI lecturers to visit research collaborations at the University of Erfurt.
Besides Prof. Eko, the FIA group consisted of Deputy Dean II Retno Kusumastuti, International Cooperation Reza Fathurrahman, and the Center for Study of Government, Public Policy and Business Novita Ikasari. The four FIA representatives were welcomed by the University of Erfurt.
In this meeting the University of Erfurt was represented by the Deputy Chancellor for International Relations, Prof. Heike Grimm, Director of International Office, Ms. Manuela Linde; and Managing Director of Willy Brandt School of Public Policy, Ms. Hahn Catalyst. As an information, Prof. Heike Grimm will come as one of the keynote speakers in the 2nd ICASPGS 2018, an international conference initiated by FIA UI.
As is known, University of Erfurt is one of the oldest universities in Germany. Erfurt is the hometown of renowned sociologist Max Weber & the state capital of Thuringia. (EM/MI)
