Reviewing Tax Treaty, FIA UI & Vocational UI International Training Degree

The practice of international taxation has developed very rapidly as a consequence of increasingly intensive transactions between countries in the era of globalization. The practice of tax planning in inter-country transactions was also responded to with the development of the concept of “tax treaty” related to The United Nation & Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (The UN & OECD) Models. In connection with this matter, it is necessary to understand international tax policies in various countries, especially regarding the latest developments and current work related to The UN & OECD Models.

This was the background of the collaboration of the Department of Fiscal Administration of the Faculty of Administrative Science (DIAF FIA UI) and the Tax Administration Vocational Program Universitas Indonesia held 2018 International Taxation Training: Tax Treaty and Recent Development Concerning UN and OECD Models at the UI Vocational Auditorium, 5-10 November “This training was made to provide an understanding of international taxation policies to academics and practitioners as well as policy makers in the field of taxation,” explained the Chairperson of the FIA ​​UI DIAF, Dr. Milla Sepliana Setyowati on Monday (12/11).

International tax expert Professor Jacques Sasseville was appointed as trainer in this training. The former Head of the Tax Treaty Unit, OECD (1995-2016) and United Nations Inter-Regional advisors shared their knowledge about international taxation for 200 participants for 6 days (36 hours). He discussed all the material regarding tax treaty and answered each participant’s questions about international tax.

The training, which was sponsored by the Financial Education and Training Agency and the South Jakarta Directorate General of Taxes Regional Office II, received a positive response from the participants. One of the students who participated in this training, the 2017 Fiscal Administration Science student, Kemas Iqbal Kailan said he was happy to be able to take part in this tax training. “Tax training is a very good event, we can add insight into international taxation issues,” he said.
