FIA UI Student Wins 2nd Place DDTCNews Tax Competition

The condition of the United States that is conducting a tax reform also has an impact on other countries. Among Trump’s tax reforms cut taxes for businesses from 35% to 21% and increased costs of US partner imports. The policy also affects the majority of countries in the world, including Indonesia. Among them is the increase in Branch Profit Tax and the fall of the Rupiah exchange rate.

This is the essence of the essay made by two students of the Fiscal Administration Department (DIAF) of the Faculty of Administrative Sciences Universitas Indonesia (FIA UI) at the peak of DDTCNews Tax Competition, Wednesday (3/10). The team consisting of Alfian Habieb Rifa’i and Berlian Kusuma Bachtiar won 2nd place in the competition. Their essay entitled American Tax Invasion received a positive response from the jury.

This competition was held by Danny Darussalam Tax Center (DDTC) in welcoming its 11th anniversary. This year the tax competition took the theme “Building Tax Culture, Compliance, and Citizenship for Millennial Generation”. There are two stages of selection, essay writing as initial selection and quiz competition in the form of written tax quiz, quiz contest, and moot court.

Under the guidance of a lecturer in Fiscal Administration, Dr. Ning Rahayu and guest lecturer, Herwikson Sitorus 2, the team made it into the top 15. Team 1, Alfian and Berlian and team 2, Fachry and Aurely successfully passed the selection and entered the top 15 of 62 teams from 18 universities in Indonesia at Associate, Diploma and Bachelor levels. From the top 15, Alfian and Berlian teams won 2nd place.

The achievements they get are the result of ongoing coaching. Previously, DIAF and the Fiscal Administration Study Group (KOSTAF) FIA UI had conducted coaching clinics every week in improving student achievement. “Hopefully friends will be more active in competing, practicing and often following moot court simulations to be better prepared for the future,” said Berlian

For information, DDTC is a research and science-based tax institution and a center of various taxation business activities. Several DDTC activities, including consulting services, tax studies, and tax training centers. Besides FIA, the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB UI) also won 3rd place in this competition.
