Depok, June 13, 2024 – Indira Zahidah, a student from the Faculty of Administrative Sciences at Universitas Indonesia (FIA UI), achieved an outstanding accomplishment by being named Best Delegate at the Paris International Model United Nations (PIMUN). This achievement highlights the exceptional talent and dedication of Indonesian students on the global diplomatic stage.

Paris International Model United Nations (PIMUN) is a prestigious simulation of United Nations conferences held in Paris, France. Indira Zahidah, a 2023 student from the Fiscal Administration program, earned the highest honor representing Germany during the conference, which took place from May 31 to June 4, 2024.

Indira’s success was not only reflected in her exceptional public speaking, negotiation, and policy-making skills but also in her ability to maintain consistency with the official positions of the country she represented. In a setting involving delegates from around the world, the primary challenge was balancing diplomacy with the defense of national interests.

Indira participated in the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), where the topic of discussion was “Reviewing the obligations of states and private sector entities in sourcing commodities.” This critical issue emphasized the importance of collaboration between governments and private sector entities in ensuring economic sustainability and responsible resource management. The discussion also addressed complex matters such as natural resource exploitation and child labor concerns.

As part of her preparation, Indira and her peers from the UI MUN Club demonstrated exceptional commitment by conducting thorough research on the topics and the country they represented.

Indira’s achievement at PIMUN underscores that success is not solely determined by individual skills but also by strong teamwork and institutional support. In a challenging environment with diverse international delegates and competing interests, she successfully balanced diplomatic finesse with a firm stance on national priorities. Through her dedication and hard work, Indira has brought pride to FIA UI on the international stage.

“For me, every experience is an opportunity to learn and grow,” said Indira Zahidah, quoting the inspiring words of Nelson Mandela. “This achievement is the result of hard work, commitment, and the unwavering support of my teammates and the Faculty of Administrative Sciences at UI.”

Indira Zahidah’s success as Best Delegate at PIMUN is not only a personal milestone but also a proud achievement for FIA UI and an inspiration for other students to continue excelling and contributing on the international stage.
