Ichwan Sukardi, who is familiarly called Ichwan, is an alumnus of the administrative science class of 1989 in the Diploma 3 Taxation education program at the University of Indonesia. He completed his undergraduate education at the University of Indonesia, a Master of International Tax Law from Leiden University, and the Masters in Strategic Management program. He is pursuing a Doctoral program in Tax Law at the University of Indonesia. Thus, Ichwan is a practising tax expert who specifically studies International Tax Law.
Currently, Ichwan holds the Managing Partner – Tax position at RSM Indonesia. Ichwan served as Head of Corporate-Tax at MedcoEnergi Internasional from 2012-2015. Ichwan has experience in international taxation, such as tax treaties, transfer pricing, tax structuring and international tax planning. In addition, he has served as a Tax Consultant, Brevet C Category (BKP C) at the Directorate General of Taxes (2001); Advocates from PERADI (2008); Advanced Professional Certification in International Tax (APCIT) from IBFD Netherlands; Attorney at the Tax Court since 1997; Chairman of the International Fiscal Association Indonesia branch (2017-present); Vice chairman at IFA Asia Pacific (2020-2022); Head of the FIA UI ILUNI Alma mater Relations Division (2018-2022); Chairman of the ILUNI Marching Band UI (1999-2015); Head of Law Faculty Golf Colleague (2022-2025); and member of several professional organizations such as IKPI, Peradi, IPA, and IFA.
Ichwan is also active in writing several books in significant publications on tax issues, namely in Bisnis Indonesia, the Jakarta Post, IBFD M&A journal, and Otbitax. In addition, Ichwan has also provided tax advice to several multinational and national companies such as becoming an engagement partner for several feeding international clients, leading several high-profile tax litigations at the Indonesian Tax Court and Supreme Court level, becoming a tax partner in charge for several series of bond issuance, and others.
On December 3, 2022, at the FIA UI EDISI Auditorium, he was elected Chair of the Alumni Association (ILUNI) of the Faculty of Administrative Sciences, University of Indonesia (FIA UI) for the 2022 – 2026 period. Ichwan said that ILUNI FIA UI was established to establish friendly and family relations between members of the ILUNI FIA UI, fostering and developing a spirit of kinship and scholarship between members of the ILUNI FIA UI and elements of the academic community, and assisting the alma mater in carrying out the missions of the University of Indonesia in general and the Faculty of Administrative Sciences, University of Indonesia in particular in realizing the Tridharma of Higher Education.
“Our current considerations in developing ILUNI FIA UI are at the point of ownership, level, gap generation, programs, and aspirations. To avoid obstacles in these matters, it is necessary to have networking between alumni and alums with the FIA UI ormawa. In addition, there is a need for community development, branding ILUNI FIA UI through social media, building a community of interests and hobbies for ILUNI members, creating an ILUNI FIA business entity,” said Ichwan.
Ichwan said that ILUNI FIA UI needed to organize a Faculty synergy program with ILUNI FIA UI to conduct scientific studies to produce joint academic research journals. ILUNI FIA, said Ichwan, will become a pool of knowledge in collaboration with PUSKA FIA (ILUNI FIA-PUSKA FIA).
