Dr. Agung Firman Sampurna, CSFA., CFrA., CGCAE, namely the General Chairperson of the All-Indonesian Badminton Association (PBSI) as well as the Chairperson of the Supreme Audit Agency of the Republic of Indonesia (BPK RI) for the 2019-2022 period, emphasized that integrity and sportsmanship are very important things for built in a time when the world is facing a state of VUCA (Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity, Ambiguity).

“Lectures are a preparation process to face the real world, so we need to cultivate and develop ourselves in terms of knowledge and spirit/values. We must prepare ourselves to face the world’s condition which is very vulnerable and has changed,” said Firman.

This was conveyed when he was a resource person at the Public Lecture on the Introduction to Academic System of the Faculty of Administrative Sciences (PSAF) Universitas Indonesia (UI) with the theme Together We Are Stronger at the FIA UI Building on Thursday, August 18, 2022.

To prepare ourselves, said Firman, building collaboration is one thing we need to do. In addition, building enthusiasm and instilling the right values are things that can help us to be able to grow and move forward.

“The value of integrity is very important. Integrity means a commitment to uphold the basic principles that form the basis for taking action. In integrity there is also the value of fair competition that respects the rule of the games. What is no less important is the need for sportsmanship, which is to be honest with one’s own abilities and those of one’s opponent,” said Firman.

Furthermore, Firman emphasized that in the process of self-development, it is necessary not only to hold fast to what one believes, but also to keep moving forward.

In this public lecture, there were several students who threw questions at Firman. One of them was Hilmi who asked about collaboration and consistency.

“In an era where collaboration is an important point in success and competition is a driving force for progress, how to be consistent in determining steps and building confidence and relationships to be successful. How to compete well in the lecture environment?” Hilmi asked.

The Word plainly says that there is no one best way that fits all. So, said Firman, it is necessary to have self-acceptance and be grateful with yourself so that you can know more about your own potential and shortcomings.

“In my context, I accept myself as I am. After that, I also made short-term plans related to what challenges I had to overcome for sure. I also think about what competencies I need to fulfill to support my work. During my lectures, I learned many lessons, namely system thinking which allows us to adapt to face all changing circumstances and set priorities. Collaboration matters are important in the acknowledgment and trust department, “said Firman.

In addition to the general lecture, there was also a welcome and advice for FIA UI New Students by the Chair of the Academic Senate of the FIA UI Faculty, Dr. Ning Rahayu, M.Si; Professor of FIA UI Prof. Amy Yayuk Sri Rahayu; and the Dean of FIA UI Prof. Dr. Chandra Wijaya, M.Sc., MM.

These three organs support each other and support the vision and mission of FIA UI. Of course, students need to know that they can synergize with each other in carrying out their roles. DGB FIA UI will help students to provide direction and scientific development of students,” said Prof Amy.

In the series, the Dean of FIA UI, Prof. Chandra inaugurated the new students of the Bachelor of Administrative Sciences batch 2022, represented by two new FIA students, namely Muhammad Firza Arizian and Grace Lini Stefani Tigi.
