Research Cluster Team> Politics of Taxation, Welfare and National Resilience (Poltax) Faculty of Administrative Sciences Universitas Indonesia (FIA UI) conducts research on the implementation of Automated Exchange of Information (AEOI) within the framework of taxation governance reform. in South Korea on October 1-5 2018. AEOI is trusted by this team as one of the alternative instruments to expand the database that has been owned by the government and can be a momentum towards single identity number.

In his journey in South Korea, the team chaired by Dr. Vishnu Juwono, S.E., M.I.A. this met with one of the key figures behind the success of South Korea’s tax reform, Vice President of Korea Institute of Public Finance (KIPF) Kim Jae-Jin. As information, Kim had conducted research in Indonesia in 2014. He found that some of the main problems of the Indonesian people related to taxation were data that was not integrated, the number of transactions in the form of cash, and the lack of political support. So according to him the main focus that needs to be done by developing countries like Indonesia is to build revenue infrastructure through data and information.

The KIPF institution led by Kim Jae-Jin acts as a think tank in the formulation of policies that are officially under the Ministry of Finance of South Korea. “This is where we see the importance of academics involved in policy making to provide a broader perspective,” said Vishnu who is also the Coordinator of the FIA U International Cooperation on Tuesday (3/10).

The FIA UI research team concluded that the government’s too focused on efforts to increase revenue alone would actually create an aggressive impression. The issue that is being raised in Indonesia is naturally inviting discomfort among taxpayers. “Naturally, trusts between the government and taxpayers are difficult to build,” said the doctor of British graduates. Vishnu also stated that trust is one of the main capital building a nation. Indeed, tax is a reflection of the relationship between the state and its citizens.

As information, besides Vishnu, this team also consists of FIA UI Lecturer Lucas Filberto Sardjono, S.I.A., M.I.P. and students of the FIA UI Postgraduate Program, Lambang Pujo Nagoro. (MI)[/fusion_builder_column][/fusion_builder_row][/fusion_builder_container]
