FIA UI Exploration of Strategy and Governance at the University of Melbourne

The Dean of the Faculty of Administrative Science, Universitas Indonesia (FIA UI), Prof. Eko Prasojo led a delegation consisting of senior management of FIA UI, Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Indonesia (FK UI) and the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences of Universitas Gadjah Mada (FISIPOL UGM) to attend workshop seminars on various strategic issues in higher education management facilitated by The School of Social and Political Science, University of Melbourne (UniMelb).

The workshops that took the title “Higher Education Management in the 21st Century” provided an opportunity for participants to explore the strategies and governance applied by senior management at the University of Melbourne as material comparisons that can be used as a basis for improving the quality of higher education management in their respective environments. The number of topics that are the subject of discussion include: University Governance, Change Management, Teaching & Research Management, Performance Management & Incentives, and Distance Learning.

This activity was opened directly by Prof. Mark Considine as Provost/ Deputy Chancellor for Academic & International, University of Melbourne and lasted for five days from 12-16 November 2018. Prof. Eko delivered on Tuesday (13 / 11), “This kind of collaboration is a pilot model in the framework of developing human resources in universities and government in the future”. This workshop is the result of collaboration between FIA UI and the School of Social and Political Science, UniMelb.

UniMelb is the best university in Australia and ranked 32 in the world based on the latest release of Times Higher Education World University. At present, the university has more than 50,000 students and 36% of them are international students from 130 countries. (MI)
