A good leader can inspire people to have hope because hope is the key to one’s life journey. In addition, leaders must also be able to build and create collaborations to resolve various issues or phenomena currently occurring to benefit many people. With that, the team can have trust in the leader so that a healthy organization is formed.

David Plouffe stated this in the Public Discussion “Collaborative Leadership to Meet a Changing World”, which took place on Tuesday, 28 February 2023 afternoon at the 2020 Edition Auditorium of the FIA UI M Building. This event was organized by the Faculty of Administrative Sciences, University of Indonesia (FIA UI), as part of a series of the 8th FIA UI Anniversary. The FIA UI Department of State Administrative Science initiated this series one talk show activity in collaboration with the Berbakti Jiwa Indonesia Foundation.

“Leadership is crucial for us to understand. So that today, we will discuss good leadership to face the changes and challenges of the world, which is currently very developing. Hopefully, today’s discussion can inspire us to become leaders who can create better collaborations,” said Dr. Fibria Indriati Dwi Liestiawati S.Sos., M.Sc., Deputy Dean for Education, Research, and Student Affairs at FIA UI.

Furthermore, in his presentation, David Plouffe said that to gain the team’s trust, leaders must be able to inspire, listen, and have the courage to create solutions to many people’s problems. David said the world today also needs leaders who can make hope for human survival in the future by seeing and even creating job potential that cannot be replaced by technology.

“It is very important for leaders to inspire hope. Leaders must also create confidence for all teams to create better changes. Leaders must be able to inspire people to solve various existing issues. For leaders, it is important to understand existing data and applicable policies, but it also needs to be emphasized that leaders must inspire people,” said David.

In the question and answer session, Andini Weningtyas Effendi, as the moderator, asked David Plouffe’s opinion about the younger generation, namely students who attended this talk show. “We need you guys,” said David Plouffe in answer to this question and closing the question and answer session.

David stated that everyone with rights must be involved in the general election, namely in the process. He said that we need to choose a figure who has the power to create better changes in people’s lives.

At this event, FIA UI also introduced a new study program, namely the Master of Public Policy and Governance (MKPG), which was presented by the Head of the Department of State Administration, Dr. Teguh Kurniawan, M.Sc.

The Master of Public Policy and Governance (MKPG) is a study program in the Department of State Administration that equips students with the ability to think logically, critically, systematically, and multi perspectively so that they can become leaders who can work independently or collaboratively in recommending public policies and governance designs in the framework of solving general problems at the institutional, national, or global levels. MKPG Study Program graduates will obtain the title of Master of Public Policy (MKP).

For information, this event was attended by 250 people consisting of students, UI lecturers, and guests.
