In writing a release for the media, the writer must place the point of view of his writing as a journalist, while the journalist places the point of view of his writing on the readers, namely the public. A writer needs a variety of training and learning in order to have a journalist’s mindset.

Therefore, the Faculty of Administrative Sciences, University of Indonesia (FIA UI) held a Workshop on Writing Popular Media News Releases with the theme “Crash Course: How to Write an Efficient Popular News Release” with the Head of Public Relations and Public Information Disclosure of the University of Indonesia Amelita Lusia for members of Student Organizations ( Ormawa) FIA UI on Thursday (23/6/22) in the Studentpreneur Room, M FIA UI Building, 3rd Floor.

Amelita opened the training by telling her experience when she started her career as a journalist, that passion that is in line with effort will make our writings have characteristics that can attract readers.

“At that time I was not looking for money, what I wanted was that my passion in the field of news writing could be channeled. So that I would go through various obstacles and obstacles in order to create interesting writings,” he said.

Furthermore, Amelita describes various mistakes that are usually made when writing news as well as various tips for writing articles that can attract readers’ interest. After that, the 19 participants who were present were asked to write a title and at least one paragraph of writing and discuss it.

“From the titles and paragraphs that you have just made, you can already see what your writing style and direction will be. So, in writing a release for the media, one thing to pay attention to is that one of them is related to writing a compact and powerful title and the first paragraph. which represents the title,” said Amelita.

The event, which was moderated by the Head of Public Relations of FIA UI, Debie Puspasari, was closed with a group photo and further assignments for the participants.
