Shenzhen, China, March 25, 2026 – Universitas Indonesia (UI) continued its series of international engagements through a working visit and seminar in Shenzhen, China. The initiative forms part of UI’s ongoing efforts to expand global collaboration, particularly in the areas of research, technological innovation, governance, and cross-border knowledge exchange.

The UI delegation was led by Rector Prof. Dr. Ir. Heri Hermansyah, accompanied by university and faculty leaders, including Prof. Dr. Hamdi Muluk (Vice Rector for Research and Innovation), Fadhilah Muslim, Ph.D. (Director of Internationalization of Education), Prof. Yon Machmudi (Deputy Director of the School of Environmental Science and Sustainable Development), Vishnu Juwono, Ph.D. (Director of UI GreenMetric), Dr. Untung Yuwono (Dean of the Faculty of Humanities), and Dr. Brian Amy Prasetyo, M.H. (Vice Dean of the Faculty of Law).

The Faculty of Administrative Science (FIA UI) was represented by its Dean, Prof. Dr. Dra. Retno Kusumastuti, M.Si., along with Prof. Dr. Teguh Kurniawan, M.Sc. (Vice Dean for Education, Research, and Student Affairs), Prof. Dr. Milla Sepliana Setyowati, M.Ak. (Vice Dean for Resources, Venture, and General Administration), Dr. Eko Sakapurnama, MBA, CHRM (Head of Graduate Program), and Tyas Wida Handoko, S.I.A., M.Sc. (Coordinator for Graduate Program Development).

The program began with an academic forum and partnership exploration session held at the Shenzhen Teochew Chamber of Commerce. During the forum, UI leadership presented various strategic collaboration opportunities to industry players and local stakeholders. Seven representatives from UI served as speakers, including the Rector and key university leaders, as well as the Dean of FIA UI.

The presentations highlighted the broad potential for Indonesia–China collaboration, covering research, technological innovation, legal governance, and socio-cultural approaches. The participation of the Dean of FIA UI contributed important perspectives on strengthening governance and public policy frameworks to support inclusive and sustainable cooperation.

In addition to the seminar, the UI delegation conducted institutional visits to Guanghe Law Firm and held discussions with representatives from the Nanyang Center for International Legal Governance (NCILG). These engagements emphasized the importance of adaptive international legal frameworks in facilitating cross-border collaboration, aligning with UI’s focus on governance and public policy development.

The visit continued with a trip to the Shenzhen Institute of Advanced Technology (SIAT), one of China’s leading research centers. The delegation was introduced to a range of cutting-edge innovations, including advancements in healthcare, precision engineering, and robotics. The discussions opened up opportunities for interdisciplinary research collaborations aimed at delivering practical solutions to societal challenges.

Through this series of activities, UI aims to further strengthen its global network while promoting the implementation of impactful and innovative collaborative programs. The visit also underscores UI’s commitment, including that of FIA UI, to positioning itself as a higher education institution that is responsive to technological advancements and the evolving landscape of global governance.
